Malawi: Gap Connection, who are organizing the 2024 edition of the Machinjiri Awards have announced adjustments to prizes for the event. Machinjiri Awards are held annually to appreciate and motivate artists in the area.
The awards aim to provide the creatives of Malawi the motivation to perform well for their admirers and supporters. The awards event is one of the most sought after event in the creative industry of Malawi.
Further adding to the appeal of the awards event, the organizers have announced hat they will be increasing the prizes for the awards evening. The event will be scheduled for the final months of the year.
One of the organizers, Eliyas Chakuamba, informed the Malawi News Agency (MANA)about the development. He claimed that the adjustments have been made to encourage artists to work hard in their various artistic fields.
The increase in awards means that the best performing artists will be honored and awarded during the end of the year. Chakuamba disclosed that they will facilitate publicity and promotion of the winner’s projects.
“We want this year’s awards to be different from the previous ones. We are adding money on top of the trophies that we present to the winners. Upcoming and female artist of the year will be supported to have media tours and a chance to collaborate with big artists,” he said.
One of the previous recipient of the Machinjiri Awards, hip hop artist, Lil Mish, commended the organizers. He believes that the new adjustments will be playing a crucial role in motivating the artists.
“This is good, it will push us to put in much work,” he said.
Gap Connection also held a street bash on Sunday July 28 at Nkolokoti Primary School Ground in Machinjiri, Blantyre aimed at promoting the forthcoming Machinjiri Awards.
The bash encompassed dancing activities from Asamunda Dancing Crew, Gap Connection Dancing Crew and The Future Dance Squad who amused the audience with their energetic moves.
Patrons also enjoyed superb music performances from Kinta, Papa Juxy and K Fella, among others.
