Botswana: The Minister of Agriculture, Fidelis Molao officiated at the launch of the completed community projects in Tonota District Council. The launch event for the projects was hosted on Thursday with several other government officials in attendance.
The people of the community, who have benefitted from these projects has expressed their sincere appreciation to the government for their efforts. The leadership of the country have shared that they are dedicated to the wellbeing of the nation.
The officials have shared that the launch marked successful execution of government’s mandate to the people. The mandate is to develop infrastructure development that services all Batswana to make their lives easier.
The Minister of Agriculture Molao delivered brief remarks at the launch event. He said it is worth celebrating the visible results of dedication and skilful work completed.
The Minister highlighted that over the years, the government took a deliberate action for the members. to ensure that infrastructural development becomes number one priority in ensuring that the economy of the country is catapulted towards the attainment of Vision 2036.
Minister Molao highlighted that Tonota District Council has undertaken a total of 261 projects under different programmes from the year 2019 up to date. The projects were taken with a total expenditure of P66, 548, 445.01.
Out of all these projects, a total of 233 projects have been completed. At this point, the stands at 89% completion ration which is highly commendable.
From the remaining 28 projects, only 6 are struggling to reach completion due various complications. Fifteen (15) are ongoing and at different stages of completion whereas 7 are yet to be started and currently at procurement stage/process.
“This important moment signifies also the handing over of all the projects completed in the financial year 2023-24. It is also worth noting that the projects incldue the clinics in leomboko, kweneng and mandunyane. The clinics are expected to not only create employment but also serve as relief for the tonota clinic and other clinics in the periphery and improve service delivery in the health sector “ said Minister Fidelis Molao.
