Dominica: Chinese Ambassador to Dominica – Chu Maoming declared that China is the principal driver of global economic growth during the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China. The event was observed at the Chinese Embassy in Morne Daniel on Oct 01, 2025 that has brought together the officials and guests to commemorate the occasion and reflect on China’s evolving role at the international level.
Ambassador Chu highlighted that China’s economic resilience and reform efforts amid global challenges. He said that since the beginning of the year 2025, considering the complex developments, China has deepened reform across the board, and has taken solid steps to pursue the high-quality development. This steadily expanded institutional opening-up and focused on developing new quality productive forces.
Chu cited the projections and indicated that the total economic output of the China is expected to reach US $19.5 trillion in 2025, as the country is contributing approx. 30% to global economic growth. Also, China will maintain its position as the world’s top trader in goods.
The Ambassador to Dominica pointed towards the advancement of China in emerging technologies and noted that the continuous achievements in frontier areas such as artificial intelligence, the low-altitude economy, biomanufacturing and quantum technology will consistently expand the future growth space for the world economy.
He also talked about the turning environmental policy of China’s commitment to green and low-carbon development. He referred to the recent statement by President Xi Jinping at the United Nations Climate Summit where China unveiled its updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Ambassador Chu Maoming confirmed that by 2035, China will reduce economy-wide net greenhouse gas emissions by 7% to 10% from the peak levels. He said theres an increase in the share of non-fossil fuels in total energy consumption to over 30% and expanded the installed capacity of wind and solar power to over six times the 2020 levels.
Furthermore, they are striving to bring the total to 3,600 gigawatts, scaling up the total forest stock volume to over 24 billion cubic meters, making NEVs the mainstream in the sales of new vehicles, expanding the Nationals Carbon Emissions Trading Market to cover major high-emission sectors, and are establishing a climate adaptive society.
Besides this, climate response is an urgent long-term task. Chu said that China is ready to collaborate with Small Island Developing States (SIDS), which will include Dominica in addressing the Climate Challenges.
Notably, China is confident about delivering on the commitments and completely understands the concerns of SIDS. The country is ready to work together with Dominica to advance the vision of harmony between man and nature.
The Chinese Ambassador unveiled that the Communist Party of China (CPC) will convene the Fourth Plenary Session of its 20th Central Committee this month to deliberate on the 15th Five-Year Plan. He conveyed the message of partnership and optimism and said that they are confident that China’s economic development will continue to bring new opportunities and new momentum to the world and they are inviting Dominica to continue boarding express train of Chinese modernisation.
