Cape Town is ready for an exciting weekend of sporting action from Dec 05 to 07, 2025. The Proteas Women kicked off their 2025-26 cricket in the Mother City while the Blitzboks are defending their SVNS Cape Town title and Cape Town City FC continues its climb up the league table.
The Proteas Women will kick off the weekend of sports with a T20 International Match against Ireland at Newlands Cricket ground on Friday, Dec 05, 2025. This is the first game which the team is going to play on home soil since its historic Women’s Cricket World Cup run that saw the team while making its maiden ODI World Cup Final.
Gates for the stadium will open at 1:00 p.m. and the game will begin at 2:00 p.m.
SVNS Cape Town
On Saturday, Dec 06, 2025 the city will observe SVNS Cape Town which is the ultimate rugby fan and lifestyle experience and will hit the Mother City for its 10th anniversary edition in Cape Town.
The event will showcase 40 games between World Rugby Seven’s top men and women’s teams, the tournament will be a display of speed, skill and non-stop action at DHL Stadium.
It will also feature electrifying live performances by Jimmy Nervis and YoungstaCPT as well as a DJ battle between DJ Alicious101 and DJ Chelsea Sloan, referred by DJ Ready D, SVNS Cape Town will once again show why it’s the biggest party in town.
The spectators are encouraged to make use of the free MyCiTi shuttle to the stadium to alleviate congestion and avoid sitting in traffic. MyCiTi will shuttle ticket holders from the Civic Centre, Thibault Square and Stadium stations on Saturday and Sunday.
For the game stadium gates will open at 09:00 a.m. and the first bus will leave the Civic Centre at 08:30 a.m. The first game will kick off at 10:00 a.m. The last bus will leave the stadium station at 09:30 p.m. on Saturday and at 07:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Cape Town City FC
Cape Town City will go head-to-head with Highbury FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship at Athlone Stadium on Saturday. The Citizens will be looking close to the year strong after an impressive run that has seen the team win three games and draw one in the last four matches.
The game will Kick-off at 03:30 p.m. Entry to the game at Athlone Stadium is completely free. Tickets can be collected at the stadium booth on Hickory Street, Athlone.
