South African Airways (SAA) launched new direct route between Cape Town and Mauritius on Dec 09, 2025. This advanced the strategic leisure destination to its growing regional network.
The service will be operated for three time a week i.e. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays; with two departure time options. The outbound flight will leave Cape Town at 9:25 a.m. and will arrive in Mauritius at 4:30 p.m. the return flight is scheduled to depart at 5:20 p.m. and will land in Cape Town at 9:30 p.m.
Wesgro, also attended the official launch event of the South African Airways’ new direct flight route between Cape Town and Mauritius. The route begins to operate until mid-January 2026. It will then transition to two weekly flights until mid-March 2026 to align with seasonal demand.

During the event, CEO of Wesgro – Wrenelle Stander underscored the importance of the connection and stated that “Every direct route expands markets, strengthens competitiveness and accelerates investment.”
She further highlighted that the flight connectivity continues to be a key economic enabler for the Western Cape, that reflected in:
- Tourism recovery and length-of-stay outperforming global averages
- Rapid growth in high-value agricultural exports
- Multinational firms establishing regional headquarters in Cape Town
- A thriving creative, tech and services economy integrated into global value chains
This new direct connection is set to enhance the Cape Town and Western Cape’s competitiveness and unlock the new opportunities for tourism, trade and investment between the two destinations.
Considering this CEO of SAA – Prof. John Lamola said that connecting Cape Town with Mauritius is a fascinating achievement that the team has been aspiring for some time.
He added that the introduction of this route demonstrates significant role of SAA in promoting leisure travel across the region and supports the broader tourism objectives for South Africa and Mauritius.
Chief Commercial Officer of SAA – Tebogo Tsimane said that the flight schedule was designed in consultation with local tour operators to match the patterns and peak holiday planning.
