St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew welcomed the members of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC) professionals on Dec 29, 2025 who will serve in the areas of health and education over the next two years.
Reportedly, this engagement marked a meaningful milestone in Africa-Caribbean cooperation that are rooted in shared history, mutual respect and a commitment to build a lasting capacity for the benefit of the people.
Considering this, PM Skerrit stated that the NTAC professionals will live and work among them for the next two years and will share their skills and expertise in service to the people.
This partnership will work towards common purpose and shared action. He also noted that many Nigerian doctors were trained right here in St. Kitts and Nevis as a powerful testament to endure the bond and mutual respect between the peoples.
Together, Africa and the Caribbean are reconnecting and they are building, serving and progressing side by side.
NTAC professionals were greeted by the Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew, Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Denzil Douglas and other government officials.
Prime Minister Drew delivered his remarks at the official welcome ceremony and described this initiative as a clear demonstration of purposeful partnership, moving beyond symbolism to tangible outcomes that benefit citizens directly.
He also stated that the words are cheap. Action speaks louder than words. Drew further underscored the presence of the NTAC professionals in the Federation which reflects a deliberate commitment to result-driven collaboration between Africa and the Caribbean.
Prime Minister Drew also stated that the partnership marks a broader historical and cultural bond that unite Africa and the Caribbean. He noted that the regions not just share ancestry, but also a common legacy of liberation, resilience, and self-determination.
He also highlighted that the lasting impact of previous Nigerian professionals who served in St. Kitts and Nevis, particularly in the health sector, made their contributions significantly that elevated standards of care and earned enduring respect across the Federation.
The engagement with the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps aligns with the Government’s broader foreign policy direction, which prioritises meaningful partnerships with Africa and other developing regions, grounded in shared heritage and mutual benefit.
Prime Minister Drew expressed confidence that the collaboration will strengthen local capacity in healthcare and education, while also serving as a visible example of how cooperation between Africa and the Caribbean can address development challenges through unity and shared purpose.
He also stated that may their time among them be one of success and impact, and may it demonstrate, on the world stage, that Africa and the Caribbean can work together to build their own future.
