Dominica: Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit congratulated Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottley on her win at third term elections. He greeted Barbados labour Party (BLP) for their decisive election victory.
PM Skerrit shared a congratulatory post on his official social media handle and extended warm congratulations to Prime Minister Mia Mottley and her party for claiming their win on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
He expressed that the people of Barbados have once again placed their trust in Mia Mottley’s leadership and her ability to guide the country forward. Barbados people have a great faith in her that during a time that calls for steady hands and bold thinking, she can drive them out through those challenges.
Dr. Skerrit stated that here in Dominica, they value the strong friendship between the two nations and Mia Mottley has always showed up and stand by them whenever in need. He further added that he is looking forward to continuing their work to strengthen their region and wished her success as she begins her new term in office for the third time.
As per the sources, the ruling Barbados Labour Party (BLP) won the general election after securing all the 30 seats on Wednesday. PM Mottley herself conquered her win in St. Michael Nort East seat, while the leaders of the main opposition Democratic Labour Party (DLP), as attorney Ralph Thorne lost in the St. John’s constituency.
Reportedly, 96 candidates represented six political parties, and a few independent candidates faced the electorate. The poll was always seen as a straight fight between the BLP and the DLP.
This landslide result cements Mottley’s dominance over the island’s political landscape and extends her party’s unbroken trust and streak of victories since 2018.
In order to celebrate this achievement, jubilant supporters gathered at the party’s Roebuck Street Headquarters, Grantley Adams House, as results rolled in. They appeared in red t-shirts and flags. Considering this, Mottley marked the triumph by declaring Friday a national public holiday and announced a thanksgiving rally at the National Botanical Gardens to be observed on Saturday, February 14, 2026 on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.
