St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew acknowledged the reconstruction of the Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School in Molineux. He visited the site and said that the progress recorded in its work is both encouraging and inspiring.
Reportedly, the construction work is advancing steadily and marks a significant step forward in restoring and modernising the long-standing educational institutions of the Federation.
The school in Molineux is being rebuilt after the devastating fire occurred in March 2022. This displaced the majority of students and damaged critical sections of the school. The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis made a deliberate decision to rebuild and transform the school completely. And today that vision is taking shape.
Considering this, PM Drew said that after the devastating fire in 2022, they made a conscious decision as a government to rebuild what was lost, to create something better, a modern, safe and fully equipped learning environment for the children.
Therefore, the project is now approximately 80% complete. The new facility represents a major upgrade, it has expanded from 8,415 square feet to 25,600 square feet, and is going to introduce modern classrooms, specialised learning spaces, improved staff facilities and enhanced safety systems.
Prime Minister Drew added that seeing the work now at an advanced stage, with expanded classrooms, new learning facilities, and improved staff facilities has reinforced the commitment to invest in the people, especially the young ones.
Once completed, the school will provide a more conducive learning environment for students and teachers. It will also serve as a valuable community space for Molineux and surrounding areas.
According to Dr. Drew, the Joshua Obadiah Williams Primary School will serve not only the students but the wider Molineux Community as well. He affirmed that as the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis he is looking forward to the day when the children can return to a space that reflects their true potential.
Notably, this project underscores the continued commitment of the government to invest in education, strengthen communities, and build a more resilient and future-ready Federation.
