Cape Town: Business owners from 35 Cape Town-based companies are gathering this week for the City’s High Impact Supplier Development Programme. The aim is to equip them to become suppliers of choice within their industries to help grow their businesses.
The five-day workshop is administered by The Business Associate and is funded by the City. It is designed to develop small businesses into becoming suppliers of choice within their industries.
The course covers supply chain integration, customer and market positioning, with financial growth, operational and supply chain alignment and performance management. Participating businesses were selected via the City’s Business Hub and following a thorough vetting process. The SMMEs are also vendors on the City’s database.
Reportedly, 35 local businesses are participating in the City of Cape Town’s High Impact Supplier Development Programme this week! This five-day workshop is funded by the City and administered by The Business Associate. It is designed to equip these businesses with the skills and knowledge to become top suppliers in their industries.
The programme majorly focuses on crucial areas like supply chain integration, financial growth, and performance management. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the local SMMEs to thrive and contribute to Cape Town’s economy.
Considering this, Member of the Mayoral Committee for Economic Growth and Tourism – Alderman James Vos stated that the research has found that small, medium-sized and micro-enterprises (SMMEs) in South Africa contribute about 35% to the country’s yearly GDP. While absorbing around 50% of all formal employment.
According to Vos, the High Impact Programme has proven to be a valuable resource that gives businesses the knowledge and networking skills to grow and attract clients.
He said, “It was great to welcome the participants of our Smart Supplier High Impact Programme.” Over the next few days, 35 Cape Town SMMEs will sharpen their skills and position themselves as suppliers of choice. Small businesses are key to growth and job creation, and we’re committed to helping them thrive.
