Dominica: Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit attended a high-level meeting, held in Guadeloupe on Friday, April 24, 2026. The gathering brought together the key representatives to strengthen the bilateral and regional cooperation.
Reportedly, the discussions involved Prefect of Guadeloupe – Thierry Devimeux and Ambassador of France to the Eastern Caribbean – Marie Noelle Duris, alongside the representatives from Dominica.
PM Skerrit also shared glimpses from the meeting on his official social media handle and said, “Excellent meeting today in Guadeloupe with Mr. Thierry Devimeux, Prefect of Guadeloupe and Her Excellency Marie Noelle Duris, Ambassador of France to the Eastern Caribbean.”
The meeting held in Guadeloupe focused on several areas of critical importance and reflected a shared commitment to enhance the collaboration and address common challenges. Among the key topics discussed were judicial cooperation, customs management, fire and rescue services, maritime coordination and immigration matters.
Considering this, Dr. Skerrit said, “We covered areas of critical importance, including judicial cooperation, customs, fire and rescue, maritime collaboration and immigration matters.” As these sectors are vital to ensure the regional stability, security and sustainable development, particularly within the Caribbean context.
In the official post, PM Skerrit highlighted that Dominica values its relationship with France and with Guadeloupe as a neighbouring territory. The nation remains committed to build practical partnerships that benefits their people.
