Kenya: Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Creative Economy, Ababu Namwamba, travelled to the United States of America. The aim of the trip was to promote the country’s creatives in the overseas markets.

He met a number of important guests who would help in furthering the creative interests of the Kenyans.

During the trip, the Cabinet Secretary met with the 1500 Sound Academy founder Larrance Dopson. The meeting took place when he visited the Academy in L.A. California and he was welcomed warmly by the founder.

The Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Creative Economy et al,  explored opportunities for collaboration and partnership in skills capacity building. Further, they also talked about the production deals with the academy’s VOLUME label for Kenyan artists.

The Cabinet Secretary called on the 1500 studios to leverage the flagship #TalantaHela initiative to train the young and upcoming artists under the Talanta Hela program towards actualizing the monetization agenda.

The programme which was conceptualized by the government of Kenya to promote the interests of the country’s creatives. The government wants to help the creative youngsters of the country to use their talents to make a living and a career.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs shared the glimpses of the meeting on their respective social media accounts. The studio caters for actual production, real music and film production as well as  training for artists.

The Cabinet Secretary then met with Invention Studios President Nicholas Weinstock. The aim of this meeting was to progress the agreement signed with the production house on film production and content development for Kenyan film makers.

Later, Cabinet Secretary  Ababu Namwamba met the Grammy Recording Academy CEO Panos A. Panay, on the sidelines of the Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, where they held talks on the progression of an ongoing MOU with the Grammy’s for the promotion of Kenya’s content globally.

The Cabinet Secretary was accompanied the Kenya Ambassador in LA Thomas BigTed Kwaka, and the CEO KFC Mr. Timothy Owase among others.
