The Africa International University (AIU) is proud to announce the new appointment of Dr Nelson Makanda as the new Vice Chancellor. The University recognised his efforts and appreciated all his achievements in the professional areas of his life.

As per the University, the new vice chancellor, Nelson Makanda, has exceptional experience with 25 years of leadership positions in various religious and charitable organisations, including churches, para-church organisations, and communities. He will begin his journey as a Vice Chancellor in January 2024.

Previously, he has served in various positions, including middle manager and deputy CEO. Currently, Makanda also serves as the General Secretary and the CEP of the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya.

The Africa International University highlighted that Dr Makanda’s leadership and professional skills have been extended to their academic realm. He has actively participated in various committees and task forces in Kenya, including the Academic Committee of the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.

Reportedly, The Africa International University is an Association for Christian Theological Education in Kenya (ACTEA). It offers accreditation services and network and support services for evangelical theological Education.

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Dr Nelson Makanda, has also served as AIU’s Governing council and trustees. He is passionate about community transformation through higher education, the church, ethical governance, and leadership for the public and the common good.

Dr. Makanda brings the skill set, relational and social capital, and passion required to transform Africa International University into a premier and global Evangelical University.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Education from Egerton University, a Master’s in Biblical Studies from the then Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (NEGST) and a PhD from Africa International University (AIU).

Dr. Makanda is an ordained evangelical minister and speaks widely on different subjects. He is married to Caroline Makanda, and they have and are raising four children.
