Africa: Africa Weather Forecast launched its weekly summary (15 May – 21 May 2023); as per African weather reports, the COL will move showers and thundershowers towards the eastern provinces between today and Tuesday as it dissipates and allows a wave of thunderstorms in places over the northern Highveld on Wednesday evening, spreading into most of the central and eastern parts most of Thursday.

Between Friday and Sunday, Saturday will most likely see a resurgence of scattered thunderstorms in places over the eastern provinces. At the same time, the other two days will remain partly cloudy in the east for fine and cool to warm elsewhere.

Over the central interior, the COL will continue spurring widespread showers and thundershowers over the east and central provinces today, most likely accompanied by high-impact thunderstorms with hail, strong winds and intense rainfall over eastern North West, Gauteng and eastern Free State. Otherwise, fine and warm in the west but partly cloudy and cool in the south.

Cloudy with widespread morning fog patches mainly over the eastern provinces on Tuesday, followed by a high chance of moderate rainfall in the places along Limpopo’s southern border but a low chance of light rainfall elsewhere over the eastern interior.

On Wednesday will most likely start showing signs of clear weather in places in the east. High chance of light rainfall along the south coast and adjacent interior. Otherwise, fine and cool over the interior but warm in the Lowveld. Medium chance of light evening showers and thundershowers in places over northern Highveld.

Covered in scattered cloud patches, the central, southern and eastern interior will most likely experience intermittent light rainfall but moderate along the south coast most of Thursday.

Between Friday and Sunday, most showers and thundershowers are expected on Saturday over the eastern provinces, while the other days may be partly cloudy over the same eastern interior; rainfall will be very light, temperatures will remain low, and the west will remain fine and cool to warm.
