St Kitts: PM Terrance Drew was present at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Agriculture, Southern University and A&M College. The prime Minister called the signing of the MoU significant for the involved parties.
He shared some glimpses from the signing ceremony on social media. During the brief yet significant event, he was accompanying Minister of Agriculture Samal Duggins. Other important members of the government who were present during the event included:

- Cabinet Secretary Dr Marcus L Natta
- Governor General of St kitts and Nevis, Dame Marcella Liburd
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew highlighted the importance of the Memorandum of Understanding for the future of the country. He announced that the collaboration will bring many different benefits for the farmers and people of St Kitts and Nevis.
The Southern University Agriculture Research & Extension Centre (SUAREC) has promised to provide valuable consultancy services to the Ministry of Agriculture. The collaboration between the two organizations will help the stakeholders of the agriculture industry become better.
It will contribute to the enrichment of knowledge and skillsets among farmers in the Federation. Minister Samal Duggins has been dedicated to upgrading the agriculture sector of the country. For this reason, he and his team have been looking for opportunities to enrich the knowledge bases of agriculture stakeholders.
Following the signing event, the government of St Kitts and Nevis claimed that the collaboration aims to elevate agricultural practices. The University seeks to empower the farming community with the latest insights and expertise.
The training and upgrades will be focused on areas such as crop development, medicinal plant research (specifically concerning medicinal cannabis), and livestock farming. The government believes that the agriculture sector is the most potent and growth-friendly sector of the country.
