Zambia: The member of the Parliament of Chipangali, Andrew Lubusha is happy to see the progress of the maternity annex in the country. The leaders have shared that the community needs the maternity faculity for the new and expectant mothers.

The Member of Parliament shared that he was delighted to see the quality of works done on Mushawa Maternity annex. The structure being constructed under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) at a cost of K770, 000.

The member of the parliament visited the facility during the monitoring of CDF projects in the district. During his trip Lubusha says the facility was well implemented by the contractor compared to other projects which had shoddy works.

The mothers of the district have expressed their delight to see their needs being addressed by the government of the country. Lubusha stated that the facility will greatly benefit the community once completed.

“We have a very serious situation where males and expectant mothers are sharing the same room due to lack of space, but now we are giving a maternity wing to our mothers to give them respect,” he said.

He has thanked the government for the support rendered through the increased CDF funds. The funds have been helping in the construction of several developmental projects within various districts.

Furthermore, Council Chairperson, Maxson Nkhoma said the maternity annex is one of the masterpieces in terms of CDF projects being implemented in the district.

Chairman Nkhoma said the project will help reduce the long distances that expectant mothers cover to access maternity services.

“This is an example of what we want to see in terms of implementation of our projects in the district. The opening of the maternity wing in about three weeks’ time will surely elate our mothers in Mishawaka chiefdom and other surrounding areas for having benefited from such an important project,” he said.

Finally, Phidati Investments Company Director, Teddy Phiri says the project is expected to be handed over by June 30 this year.
