Zambia: The Mushawa Maternity Annex in Chipangali District is 95 percent complete as per the updates shared by the government of Chipangali. The maternity Annex is being constructed under the Constituency Development (CDF).
The members of the administration have been working hard to give the members of the country access to maternity facilities. The District has been asking the authorities to give them the maternity faciliies as several expectant mothers have to face several issues to get access to healthcare for themselves and their infants.
Chipangali Council Secretary Francis Ndola spoke to the media regarding the development of the Maternity Annex, He said the health facility is being undertaken at a cost of over K700,000.
Council secretary Ndola stated that the project which commenced in August last year was extended to allow the contractor to finish the annex.
“In terms of what we have done, we are 95 percent complete. He also highlighted that part of the scope has been done accordingly. Further, they are happy with the progress of the work which has been done by the contractor” Ndola said.
Ndola added that the local authority has started buying all the equipment that is needed for the maternity annex to be of service to the mothers
Ndola said the project is expected to be fully completed in the next one month.
In the next month, the authorities of the district should be done with the final works for the Maternity facility. They also believe that during the same period they will stock the facility with the beds and mattresses Ndola said.
Meanwhile, Council Secretary Ndola disclosed that another maternity annex is being constructed in Nyaviombo area at Nyaviombo Health Centre under CDF at a cost of over K1.3million.
He said the project which is about 70 percent complete will include procurement of beds, mattresses and all other utensils to be used in the maternity annex. The members of the community have shared that they are happy to see the construction of this critical piece of infrastructure.
