Botswana: Botswana based FIFA development officer and celebrated sports administrator, Ashford Mamelodi has launched his book, Protecting the Game. The book’s launch event was hosted on April 4 at Setlhoa in Gaborone.
The event was attended by a number of friends and loved ones who wanted to support the sports administrator in the venture. The Botswana Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture also highlighted the celebrated media personality during the event.
The Ministry shared some glimpses from the event on their social media and wished him well for the success of the new book. Ashford Mamelodi who is affectionately known as Bra Ash has contributed significantly to the sports sector of Africa, especially Botswana.
The family friend of the football athlete Festinah Bakwena talked briefly about the sportsman during the launch event. She talked about the various achievements clocked in by the African Footballer.
She revealed that he was a reserved person and an introvert before. However he became fond of crowds when he ventured into the sport. She claimed that the book will find success among the readers and inspire many youngsters of Botswana.
The Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture, Tumiso Rakgare, also spoke at the launch event in honour of the sportsperson. He delivered a keynote address to express appreciation for Ashford Mamelodi’s invaluable contribution to sports administration.
He also acknowledged that Bra Ash is extremely talented as a writer and an irreplaceable part of the Botswana Sports sector. He noted that the book of the sports administrator has the potential to transform the sports economy of Botswana significantly.
The Minister of Youth, Gender. Sport and Culture said that Mamelodi’s insights could profoundly shape the future of football. He also asked the country’s people to support the author’s new book.
Ashfold Mamelodi appreciated the support and appreciation he received from the Ministry. During the launch event, he also reflected on his journey.
