Cameroon: The talented beautician from Cameroon – Akam Adel has emerged as the winner of the Eyelash Technician of the Year at the Professional Beauty GCC Awards in United Arab Emirates. The seventh edition of the Beauty Awards was held on Tuesday, Feb 20, 2024.
Beautician Akam Adel lives in the United Arab Emirates and is known for grabbing the esteemed title by showcasing her exceptional artistic eyelash application.
The Native of Cameroon’s Ngie in North West Region, Adel faced a tough competition from other five finalists. Adel impressed the judges with her expertise and dedication to her craft and secured the top position in her category.
The seventh Professional Beauty GCC Awards was organised with the aim to recognise individuals and companies who are working in the industry of beauty, spa, hair and nail markets.
The award show invited entries from spas, beauty, hair salons or nail salons, employers and individuals who stand out from the crowd and deserve recognition as a world-class performer in the beauty, hair, nail or spa industries.
However, the award night itself involved the black-tie evening reception and gala dinner that was held in Dubai. The finalists attended the awards and celebrated with their staff, peers and suppliers.
The beauticians also got a chance to network with other leading spas, salons and product houses. The Professional Beauty awards was first organised twenty-years ago in London and since then it has recognised the most prestigious awards ceremony for the beauty, spa, hair and nail markets.
Akam Adel’s win at the Professional Beauty GCC Awards highlighted the talent and commitment to excellence within the thriving beauty landscape of the GCC region.
Akam Adel’s journey to win an award for eyelash technician and beauty massage therapist began with her academic pursuits in biochemistry while she was studying in secondary school.

- Iolite Akam Adel from Locks by LouLou won Eyelash Technician of the Year
- Essie, Cherele Dacuya from 306 Spa won the GCC award for Manicurist of the Year
- Brunson Abegail Hagos from 306 Spa won the Nail Professional of the Year Award
- La Biosthetique Lal Ni Mawii won the award for Make-Up Artist of the Year
- L3VEL3 Lee Handford, Entourage & Co. won the prize for Barber of the Year
- The award for Bridal Hairstylist of the Year was presented to Enigma Thomas Almond of 91 Beauty Salon
- Schwarzkopf Professional Ruth Bocock of Tara Rose Salons was recognised with the award of Colour Technician of the Year.
- The Salon Stylist of the Year award was given to Davines Dhanrupa Chauhan from Salon INK
- Team of the Year award was given to Ulka Aveda from Dubai
- Maison D’Asa Fitri Ayu Agustina from Blended Wellness was given the award for the Therapist of the Year.
- Hydrafacial Jessica Lisnvi from The Nova Clinic was recognised as the Advanced Therapist of the Year
- Goldwell Emma Williamson from Tara Rose Salons won Salon Manager of the Year
- Leader Healthcare Sioux Lees from Cinq Mondes Spa at Raffles the Palm won Spa Leader of the Year
- The Business Director of the Year award was given to Eideal Deena Alawaid from Collective by Deena Alawaid.
