Botswana: The Acting Commissioner of Police Cornellius Lesola extended his best wishes and appreciation to the retired Deputy Commissioner of Police, Support Services (DCP SS) Phemelo Ramakorwane. He has shared that the retired deputy commissioner deserves recognition for his dedication to service.
The Botswana Police Service organized a farewell dinner in the honour of the Retiring officer. The dinner was hosted on November 14 and was attended by several members of the staff in the police service.
At this dinner, The Acting Commissioner of Police Cornellius Lesola made the remarks to laud his former officer.
Deputy Commissioner Ramakorwane is now serving as the Director General at the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Cornellius Lesola delivered a brief address at the event. He acknowledged that the retired Deputy Commissioner served in the Botswana Police Service for 35 years and 2 months.
During his tenure, he showed dedication and zeal of serving the nation and its people. The Acting Commissioner said Ramakorwane’s leadership was visionary and played an important role in the development of the BPS.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police Phemelo Ramakorwane worked tireless to rise through the ranks with his dedication and hardwork. The Acting Commissioner of Police was proud to note that Deputy Commissioner Ramakorwane served in the rank of Deputy Commissioner at the time of his retirement.
He acknowledged the significant transformation in service delivery by the former DCP SS citing the introduction of a number of projects amongst others, the Safer City project which up to now is a major tool in crime deterrence.
The former Deputy Commissioner took very important steps to strengthening community policing. He played a crucial role in improving trust between law enforcement agencies and the public.
The acting commissioner Lesola said that Ramakorwane was responsible for promoting inclusivity and gender balance within the service. He added the reetired officer is departing with a lasting impact, paving way for a more diverse and empowered police service.
Meanwhile, Ramakorwane extended his most sincere gratitude to Botswana Police Service and his family. He acknowledged their support in his journey and thanked them for the dinner they organized in his honorg. He said his journey in the Organisation couldn’t be enjoyable and illustrious without their contributions. Ramakorwane further added that for him to have served for this long it was by the grace and mercy of the Lord.
Ramakorwane appreciated the growth of BPS. He said BPS is an organisation with a reputable image in Africa as it is one of the best Police Service in Africa
