Botswana: The president of Botswana, Mokgweetsi E.K Masisi, has been travelling the whole country to conduct and attend Kgotla meetings. Recently, the president visited Moshupa to address one of these meetings. It took place on Thursday, November 2, 2023.
The head of State of Botswana spoke to the locals of the area and heard their concerns. These meetings are being held under the spirit of Morero (Consultation) which is an important aspect of Setswana Culture.
In Morero, the community leader engages their people to discuss issues of concern and possible solutions. As the leader of the Republic of Botswana, it is the responsibility of the president to engage with the people of his nation.
It is in this spirit that His Excellency Dr Mokgweetsi E.K Masisi has been traversing the rest of the country to address Kgotla meetings.
He has so far been to places like Kavimba, Masunga, Bobonong, Molepolole, Kanye. In all these cities and districts, the president heard the concerns of the ordinary Motswana. Following this, he took the initiative to assure them of what Government is doing to address those concerns.
During his trip to Moshupa on Thursday, November 2, the president donated a White Brahman bull. The donation was made on the sidelines of the Kgotla meetings.
President Mokgweetsi E.K Masisi made this donation under another initiative that he has been committed to. The president wants to ensure that they can improve the quality of beef in Botswana. Additionally, he wants to inspire the farmers to turn livestock farming into businesses that can earn them a living.
The Bull was donated to Peter Pitso, a 67 year old farmer of Ditsobotlana. The official social media of Botswana Presidency shared some glimpses from both the Kgotla meetings and the bull donation. The people of the country have expressed their delight on seeing the president involving himself in the issues and concerns of the people.
Social media user Emmanuel Mafoko expressed his sentiments through the comments section. He wrote: Masisi will take this country far. He has my ultimate support.
