Botswana: Botswana is celebrating the 58th edition of their independence on September 30 with a bang. The celebration for the momentous occasion has already started in different parts of the nation.
One of the most anticipated activities that is being taken as a means to celebrate the momentous occasion is: A Legends Football Match between Botswana and South Africa. The friendly match between the two nations will be a testament to their bond and relationship.
The event will be hosted on September 30 with fans of football converging from across the nation Former national football stars from both countries come together for a fun-filled, yet meaningful, showdown.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture hosted press conference at Cresta Lodge on Tueesday. The aim of the press conference  to officially introduce the legends who will grace the field.
A key figure that will be representing the Zebras will be none other than Botswana football legend, Dipsy Selolwane, famously known as U-Turn in football circles. Whilst from South Africa’s side, the iconic Doctor “16v” Khumalo will lead Bafana Bafana.
The football fans from all over Botswana will travel to the stadium to be a part of the celebration and support Botswana in the friendly match
Both teams will feature women players in their line-ups for the independence day celebratory matches. This will serve as a means of promoting gender equality on the field. This crucial element aligns with the Ministry’s mission to tackle Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the country.
Gender based violence is a serious issue that is affecting all the parts of the country. This match will not only entertain football fans but also serve as a platform to promote gender equality and peace.
The Legends Football Match will start at 3:00 PM at the National Stadium on the day of the Independence Anniversary. The Ministry has announced that the entrance for the event is free. The people can attend the event to the capacity of the national stadium.
