Buguma, Asari-Toru LGA: The Executive Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Onengiyeofori George, DSSRS assured members of the Abbi Royal Council of Chiefs of the readiness of the Security Council to ensure peaceful ambience and security of life and property in the LGA. The official has assured the authorities that this is the top most priority of his administration.
He made this announcement ahead of the burial of the Amanyanabo of Kalabari kingdom, His Serene Majesty, Late Prof. T J.T. Princewill on Thursday, November 2, 2023. The events scheduled for the burial of Late Prof Princewilll has already kickstarted. He will be given the final farewell after a series of events with participation from both the Local Government and the community.
The Chairman of Asari-Toru LGA, George, said this during a crucial meeting with security chiefs and members of the Abbi Royal Council of Chiefs. The meeting was held at the Council’s Hall of Fame in Buguma City.
He said: “The level of preparation is very high; everything had been done to ensure that all the dignitaries that would be coming into Buguma City are safe; and protected. All the T’s had been crossed and all the I’s dotted, in terms of security arrangement towards the burial of the late King of Kalabari kingdom.
“The Abbi Royal House and, or any other individual who intends to mastermind or forment trouble should desist forthwith as the Government will henceforth clampdown heavily on any individual trying to truncate the burial process which started yesterday, 1st November, 2023″.
“Government will never take side in the tussle of who becomes the Amanyanabo of Kalabari. Ours is to ensure the security of life and property of the residents. But things MUST be done orderly and in accordance with the instant laws. Those who claim to have judgment of any sort, should properly channel it to the authority of the Local Government”.
“Any gathering with a considerable number of persons in Buguma whether for traditional, cultural and religious reasons without express approval from Security Agencies and the Council will be termed unlawful, and all persons involved will be arrested and prosecuted”.
