The National Football Team of Cameroon has been in talks about being involved in many controversies during the AFCON-2023.
The ‘FECAFOOT’ or ‘Indomitable Lions’ as they are known, had some issues with their previous coach Rigobert Song, considering which they were the hot topic of the news and media.
As per the sources, the Indomitable Lions have appointed ‘Jose Mourinho’ as their new head coach of the national team of Cameroon.
Sports tactician, Jose Mourinho has signed the contract with the Indomitable Lions for 4-years to lead the team for upcoming soccer games.
Jose Mourinho is a Portuguese professional football manager and former player of Italian Serie-A club Roma.
He has been a UEFA Champions League winner twice, is one of the most decorated managers ever, and is widely considered to be among the greatest managers of all time.
The decision was made, following the issues occurred between the player and the former coach Rigobert Song of the national team ‘Indomitable Lions’. The president Samuel Eto’o was also not on good terms with the coach Song.
Rigobert Song left his position as coach in March last month because his contract with the team has come to an end. It was announced by President Samuel Eto’o in an interview. FECAFOOT has also released an official press note regarding the new changes.
The note was released on February 28, 2024, in which they stated as, “Today the Executive Committee of the Cameroon Football Federation ‘FECAFOOT’ notifies the member of the Indomitable Lions staff about the end of their contract to manage the Cameroon’s Senior Men’s National team.”
Before this, President Samuel Eto’o has also submitted his resignation to the Cameroon Football Federation which was rejected.
The president presented his resignation to the members of the federation’s executive committee during the meeting, which was held at the Hilton Hotel. The meeting mainly focused on the results of the National Men Selection’s participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire.
The resignation was rejected by the ones who wanted to finish the mandate of President Samuel Eto’o.
