Cape Town: The city is going to observe the 19th edition of the Totalsports Women’s Race on Saturday, August 09, 2025. The City of Cape Town would like to advise residents and participants on logistics for race day.
The event will welcome a record-breaking 15,000 participants that are expected to take part in this year’s Totalsports Women’s Race. It is a 20% jump from the 2024 event when 12,000 runners signed up for the race.

Reportedly, thousands of athletes will be in for a visual feast on race day, with the route guiding runners through some of the most cherished landmarks in the City of Cape Town. They will set off in front of the iconic Cape Town City Hall, as the 10km journey weaves through Woodstock, District Six, past the Parliament precinct, Company’s Garden, and the heart of the CBD, before crossing the finish line on the historic Grand Parade.
The 5km route will follow a similar path but deviates from District Six via Hanover Street to the finish on the Grand Parade. Furthermore, the Totalsports Women’s Race, which has become synonymous with Women’s Day in Cape Town, blends health, fitness, fun, and purpose – all in honour of a day with deep significance for South Africa.
With the iconic ‘Sea of Pink’ flowing through the streets of Cape Town, the thousands of participants will also be running in solidarity with PinkDrive, a breast cancer awareness organization dedicated to improving education, early detection, and access to vital services.

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith said that the Totalsports Women’s Race is more than just another running event. It’s a bold celebration of health, strength, solidarity and empowerment.
Smith expressed that it’s always inspiring to see mothers, daughters, sisters and aunts take to the streets of the Mother City to commemorate Women’s Day in such a meaningful way. This event is significant, especially for its focus on women’s health.
