Cape Town and the Western Cape are taking big steps towards a greener tomorrow as promised in Africa’s Green Economy Summit (AGES).  

Keeping in mind the global climate challenges and the pressing need for sustainable development Cape Town has decided to take the initiative to make the city greener.

AGES is a unique platform that connects investors, governments and project leaders to drive a just and sustainable transition across the continent that returned to Cape Town from Feb 21 to 23, 2024.

Considering the initiative, the CEO of Wesgro–Wrenelle Stander highlighted the crucial roles of technology that targeted the investment in achieving economic, social and environmental objectives, during her opening address alongside the Premier of Western Cape – Alan Winde.

CEO Stander emphasized the urgency of collective action in addressing the climate crisis, which highlighted Wesgro’s role in facilitating investment in green technologies and industries to ensure regional, continental and global prosperity.

Wrenelle Stander mentioned that the climate crisis is a global challenge that requires urgent and collective action.

Africa’s Green Economy Summit served as a great opportunity for Wesgro where as a strategic partner it showcased the potential investment of Cape Town and Western Cape. Despite the renewable energy, the region offered E-Mobility, Circular Economy and Waste & Water Management services.

Here, Wesgro also engaged with the investors and project or business owners marking the region’s commitment to sustainable growth.

The official Tourism, Trade and Investment Promotion Agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape collaborated with key partners like DEDAT, Atlantis Special Economic Zone, Freeport Saldanha, City of Cape Town, GreenCape and the Western Cape Department of Environmental Affairs and Planning.

Africa’s Green Economy Summit was held from Feb 21 to 23, 2024 in Cape Town, South Africa which was a great platform to unite the global investor community, project owners and business executives, all in one place for African governments, cities and policymakers.

The AGES organized the second edition following the theme ‘Mobilising Investments for Green Growth’. The theme represented the urgent need for increased investments in green initiatives across the African continent.

Moreover, the summit’s objective was to catalyze investment and create an environment where green projects can flourish.
