Cape Town: The City of Cape Town teams up with the Comic Con Cape Town for an epic trilogy. The city will be partnering with Comic Con for the next three years, which will follow a Council resolution on the event’s sponsorship.
As per the sources, the council has approved the events department to enter into an agreement that will see the city supporting Comic Con Cape Town for the three continuous editions for the years 2024, 2025 and 2026.
Comic Con Cape Town is the mother of all pop culture events, with four days which feature all the best in gaming, comics, shopping, cosplay and international celebrities under one roof.
Reportedly, the new agreement signed will commence in 2024, which is scheduled to take place over the Freedom Day week.
Comic Con hosted a successful event in 2023, and this year, it will add a special fifth day to accommodate more fans.
During the last four years, the event provided trading opportunities to around 235 businesses in the exhibition and welcomed 27,484 attendees who collectively spent over R24 million in Cape Town.
The Member of the mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith, said that the event exceeded all expectations and received the full buy-in of local, national and international audiences in 2023.
He said, “As the City, we believe it will keep on building from here and our support will go a long way in ensuring that Comic Con Cape Town remains a go-to event for people of all age groups.”
He further stated that it has been encouraging to see the immediate impact that the event had on the economy and the expectation is that this trend will continue for years to come.
Comic Con Cape Town will take place at CTICC-2 from April 27, 2024 to May 01, 2024. This year, the event organisers are planning to increase the number of exhibitors, providing opportunities for more local businesses and growing the numbers in attendance.
