Cape Town: Fleet Management Department of the City of Cape Town hosted a live demonstration of its new technology driven fleet tracking solutions. This session represented a key milestone in strengthening fleet security.
This new fleet tracking technology will also enhance the safety protocols and will improve operational efficiency.
Member of the Mayoral Committee for Corporate Services – Alderman Theresa Uys said that they are proud to showcase the latest innovation in fleet security, safety and operational efficiency. This live demonstration highlighted the installation process, tracking technology and new protocols that are designed to safeguard the assets of the City of Cape Town, to improve service delivery.
Uys said that the City of Cape Town is managing a large and complex fleet that is central to service delivery across the communities. This new fleet tracking technology is more than a technical upgrade. It represents a commitment towards safety, accountability and efficiency.
Fleet tracking rollout will provide major benefits, such as:
- The new tracking technology allows web-based monitoring of the fleet. The managers and supervisors will have control of their respective fleets and can access from any approved device, with secure passwords and access control.
- The city will allow systems development and data analytics to measure and improve its efficiency in the use of the City of Cape Town Fleet. This will provide rich telematics data that the new system offers.
- The new tracking contract is a foundational element in the design and implementation of the association, Fleet Risk and Operations Control Centre (FROCC). This will address major challenges such as efficiency, productivity, cost savings, along with data-driven decisions and environmental responsibility.
Alderman Theresa Uys, MMC for Corporate Services said that this rollout will position Cape Town at the forefront of municipal fleet innovation in South Africa. This is another example of how the City of Cape Town continues to embrace technology to deliver services better, safer and smarter for the customers and residents.
