South Africa: Cape Town Air Access empowers growth as Cape Town International Airport (CTIA) soared past 11 million passengers in 2025. It is for the first time that they have marked a major milestone for Cape Town and the Western Cape.
This growth mainly highlights ACSA data collected for year 2025, and shows that:
- 11.1 million two-way passengers whether domestic and international were welcomed
- 3.3 million international two-way passengers saw increase of 7% year-on-year and made a new record
- Domestic travel also saw 7% surge and welcomed 7.8 million passengers
- December 2025 has set a new festive season mark, high with 1.12 million two-way domestic and international passengers
- Air cargo volumes increased by 42% in the first 10 months of the year
Wesgro, the official tourism, trade and investment promotion agency for Cape Town and the Western Cape, marketing at global level and shared these stats.
It stated that this growth reflects the momentum of Western Cape towards its goal of doubling tourism by 2035. Their strategy aims to drive economic growth, strengthen competitiveness and create jobs across the province.
Also, the Wesgro team congratulated the Cape Town Air Access partners. It also acknowledged the Airports Company South Africa, the Western Cape Government, the City of Cape Town, South African Tourism, Cape Town Tourism and other private sector partners, V&A Waterfront and DHL. It praised their leadership and supported them.
