Cape Town: The Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K is returning May 10, 2026. The City is making amendments to its route for the 11th edition and would like to advise residents and motorists on the impact of these changes.
For the first time in its 11-year history, the race will finish on the iconic Grand Parade with a backdrop of City Hall and Table Mountain. The new finish location means that the route will have to be reconfigured that to accommodate the end stage and account for 10Km in the re-route.
The first half of the race will remain the same, with the athletes setting off from Woodbridge Island in Milnerton. Making their way through Paarden Island and then into the city centre via the N1 and FW De Klerk Boulevard.
Once in the city, the route will divert at the Coen Steytler Roundabout into Lower Long Street via Walter Sisulu Avenue. The runners will head up to 1.2km on Long Street, then will turn into Wale Street, down Adderley Street, before making a final turn onto Darling Street for a finish in front of the ‘Grand Old Dame’.
The race will set off from Woodbridge Island at 09:00 a.m. To accommodate the safe hosting of this major event, several road closures will be implemented over the weekend, in some parts of the CBD starting on Friday evening.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative routes. Key roads along the route, as well as those intersecting with it, will be impacted for several hours on Sunday, May 10, 2026.
The race day road closures will also have a major impact on several MyCiTi routes in the CBD and on the service to Hout Bay/Hangberg.
Furthermore, a dedicated shuttle service will transport participants from the Golden Arrow Bus Terminus (on Castle Street) to the start line in Milnerton. The buses will start operating from 05:30 a.m, with the final bus leaving at 08:30 a.m.
Parking is available at the Golden Acre. There will be no parking on the Grand Parade. Runners are encouraged to park early, make their way to the Golden Acre, and hop on the shuttle for a smooth and stress-free trip to the start.
Post-race, shuttles will be available to return participants to the start venue at Woodbridge Island from 10:00 a.m. until 01:00. The buses will run from the bus terminus.
