Zimbabwe: The fans of Caps United FC has joined their hands together to finish the work of Rufaro Stadium. The supporters of the football club have decided to help Harare and finish the renovations at Rufaro Stadium.
In an unprecedented move, manpower was offered by the supporters of the Caps United this weekend. The group of individuals have travelled long distances to watch their favourite team playing at ‘home’ Caps United fans decided ‘enough is enough’ and joined in to have the Rufaro Stadium ready for March 28, 2024.
An official internal memo was gleaned by DeMbare DotComs. The Information and Publicity Officer of Caps United Supporters Association – Stanley Pindiri has asked for the assistance for those who can assist as there is cleaning and clearing required before the stadium and can host the matches.
The Dynamos Supporters National Executive, Organising Secretary – Bla Kheda and Caps United National Supporters Executive, including Masango and Magawa, had a tour of the venue on Monday before PSL and has provisionally fixtured matches at the venue.
Moreover, DeMbare DotComs understands the venue which is ready by 95% with toilets for Spectator’s and rubble’s the only impediment that is there for the stadium to be homologated fully.
The Caps United want to come in and help with the manpower. The official Caps United Memo reads:
“Internal Memo, As the National Executive we initiated a move to engage the Municipality of Harare on the progress of Rufaro Stadium. As communicated through this publication we managed to talk to the members responsible for the upgrading of Rufaro all this with one aim, that is to bring football to the Capital City.”
The memo further states, “Mr Zivanai is the point person responsible for overseeing the refurbishment of Harare Municipality stadiums that includes Rufaro, Dzivarasekwa and Gwanzura. He is very cooperative to see this dream of our being fulfilled.”
“There was a strong delegation dispatched from Caps United which includes Mr Masango the National Chairman Mr Magawa the National Organ and Chapter Chairpersons of Harare, Chitungwiza and Marondera.”
It is mentioned in the memo that, “We managed to also engage the Dynmaos National Executive who in turn dispatched the Organising secretary Bla Khedza. We had a very successful and a fruitful engagement meeting together and managed to do a feasibility tour of the stadium.”
“We were impressed with the progress thus far and in the bid to speed up progress both clubs that is CAPS United and Dynamos FC pledged to give moral and manpower support.”
“Against this background we are calling all those who are willing to give support and help speed up the progress. Indications are that is we push we might be able to meet the target of our home games being played at Rufaro this coming week,” included the memo.
The memo also included, “We have set Saturday and Sunday 0800 hrs this week to go and physically help. This is a call to everyone, be it a builder, a tiller, a carpenter or general hand to commit and be counted for the good cause this weekend.”
The memo said, “There is work for everyone so all hands are needed. There are rubbles to be cleared and a lot of cleaning inside for ladies. After the work we are arranging that we have time for refreshment and interaction.”
“This is our home, let’s bring football home,” concluded the internal memo.
