Kenya: The Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Alex Lemarkoko attended the closing ceremony of this year’s Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show Baringo Branch. He was the guest of honour during the closing ceremony which was hosted in Kabarnet, Baringo County.

The officials have shared that they were happy that the event was a resounding success with attendants coming from far and wide. The officials have shared several images from the event on their social media.

The officials have shared that the members of the community were  also present at the event on their social media. The leaders of the Kenya Forest Service were also a part of the celebration.

The CCF Alex Lemarkoko informed the participants of the importance of environmental conservation in the face of the triple planetary crisis of climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss. He highlighted that the Show’s theme which calls for climate smart agriculture.

He also focussed on the  fact  that this was the way to go for the country to produce enough food for everyone.

The officials have shared that it is their responsibility to gather in support of the agriculture sector of Kenya

CCF Lemarkoko called on the people of Baringo County to conserve their forests because of the critical role they play in stabilising the fragile environment of the region. He warned that the government  will continue to work for their quest to ensure that the forests in the country are well managed for posterity.

He at the same time thanked the County Government led by His Excellency Benjamin Cheboi for working closely with KFS in the conservation of the forests within the County.

The CCF also congratulated the management of the ASK Baringo Branch led by the Chairman Isaac Chemng’orem for staging a spectacular show that attracted over 70 exhibitors and hundreds of showgoers.

Other dignitaries present included the County Commissioner  Stephen Kutwa, the Regional Forest Conservator. Martin Mamati, the CEC for Agriculture Risper Chepkong’a and the the County Forest Conservator Ms. Ann Nyaoke among others.
