Zambia: Government of Zambia has appreciated the Centre for Environmental Justice (CEJ) for encouraging community participation in the struggle against climate crisis. The Climate Change is a real and constant challenge for the community in the modern world.
The center for environmental justice has been trying to look into inclusive, empowerment-driven approach in strengthening civil society participation in climate action across the country.
The organization is working hard to get the various stakeholders ready for the fight against climate change. The government of Zambia through Ministry of Green Economy and Environment has lauded the efforts.
MGEE Director of Environmental Management, Fushini Gondwe has appreciated the strategy of building capacity among stakeholders. The CEJ is working hard to ensure grassroots participation from all communities.
He said this approach from the has equipped communities with knowledge. They are well versed on international, national, and local climate change policies.
The struggle against climate change is a reality which is felt more deeply in the developing world. The national organizations are as such equipping all members of the community with knowledge and plans.
Recently, the MGEE Director of Environmental Management, Fushini Gondwe attended a two National Stakeholders Dialogue. The motive of this dialogue was strengthening civil society voices in climate advocacy.
The government has shared some glimpses from the staleholders meeting on their social media account. Gondwe noted that the bottom-up approach has transformed participants into active leaders and advocates in the fight against climate change.
Centre for Environmental Justice Executive Director Maggie Mapalo described the stakeholder dialogue as a very important opportunity. The dialogue will help in promoting inclusivity, coordination, and local ownership in Zambia’s climate response.
