Botswana: Botswana Housing Corporation Acting Director Property Development Paar Frank made a presentation at the Chobe District Council. The aim of the meeting was to monitor the of Low income housing projects that are being implemented in the district.
The meeting was organised by the Department of Housing for the district. The department has been working hard to provide affordable and low-income housing for the people of the nation.
The people who don’t have access to other measures to become homeowner can take advantage of the offers provided by the Botswana Housing Corporation. The meeting of the organization discussed the progress of a similar programme.
The presentation mainly focused on SHHA turnkey projects undertaken in the Chobe District since its inception. The stakeholders of the development project took the opportunity to highlight the successes of the programme and discuss the challenges faced by the developers.
The Corporation was applauded for a sterling job they continue to deliver on SHHA turnkey projects. The organization stakeholders also appreciated the team for their efforts towards mentoring small contractors.
He highlighted that their success is proven by promotion of some of the small contractors , who are now tackling larger projects such as the ones at the Unzovu estate (Kazungula 65).
The Corporation continues to unbundle most of its major housing development projects. These projects will serve as a way to empower citizen contractors.
These contractors most of which aspire to move up the grading scale and take on bigger projects. Currently the Corporation has ongoing projects in Tsabong, Gaborone, Rakops, Matsiloje and Kazungula. More housing developments are envisaged to start in the current quarter in Pilane, Maun and Letlhakane.
The meeting was attended by the Director of Housing Gaokgakala Rabalone as well as the District leadership. The Director of Housing together with the BHC team will tomorrow visit some of the SHHA turnkey and district housing projects to appreciate progress and interact with various implementation teams.
