Botswana: The Chobe Region education Stakeholders came together to organise an interactive workshop for Standard one teachers. The initiative was organised by Edward Mohumanegi and Kavahaza Sibanga. The event was attended by two teachers from all eleven (11) primary schools in the region.
The event was crucial for the development of the primary education sector of Chobe Region. The teachers were given the opportunity to learn from the experts and improve their teaching skills.
The educators discussed the issues and problems that they were facing during their teaching time and handling the classes. The main objective of the workshop was to serve as an intervention to address problems of reading and writing by beginners. The workshop also hopes to support the foundation for fluent literacy and improved educational standards.
The education stakeholders are working to improve education delivertin all levels through primary and Secondary schools. The students across Botswana should be able to seek out and access best quality of education.
The main aim of the workshop was to inform the participating teachers on how breakthrough methods fit into the Setswana Syllabus. At the same time, the team also wants to train and equip the regional team with strategies to monitor and support the implementation of the breakthrough method.
The workshop helped the participants understand the concept of assessment and testing procedures related to the breakthrough programme. Tetlanyo Nonnie Chipendo, the Acting Director in the region expressed that the regional body is happy to see participants exchange experiences and best practices on breakthroughs.
She encouraged the participating teachers of the Chombe District to fully utilize the opportunity sharing their experiences, challenges and successes with their peers. The advice from seasoned professionals can help newer peers to achieve significantly in their career growth.
The new teachers can also get invaluable knowledge from the experience of their seniors. The people of the community, parents and students will benefit tremendously from the meeting, with teachers finding solutions to their issues and learnt alongside their peers.
