Zambia: The coach of the Zambia Women’s National Team, Bruce Mwape has expressed his optimism in the capabilities of the Copper Queens Team. The team, which has recently lost a match against United States.
Copper Queens, who are currently in Paris for the 2024 summer Olympics lost 3-nil against the 4-time champions. The match, which was held on Thursday evening, The coach said that the team can still qualify for the quarter finals of the Paris Olympics.
As per the match proceedings, the USA Team gained their victory owing to a brace by Mallory Swanson and a goal at the hands of Trinity Rodman
On the other hands, the Copper Queens played with ten players on their team for sixty minutes. This happened after Pauline Zulu was given the red card within 30 minutes of the match’s beginning.
The coach noted that the fans should not lose hope. The team will still play two more games and depending on the outcome, there are still chances to qualify for Quarterfinals.
The coach noted that even though this was not a positive result, the loss does not have to be taken as the end of the world. National Team coach, Bruce Mwape said that the girls performed well and tried to bounce backn the second half.
He acknowledged that the copper queens made many mistakes in the first half. US took advantage of those mistakes. However, the Zambian girls made amends in the second half and tried to reign the game back in.
At the end of the game, the coach said that they need to work on strategy again and work on creating chances for our team. The match against US was a lesson learned, according to the National team coach.
The team is ready to face Australia, who have previously lost a match against Germany 3-0. The coach asserted that the team is still in high Morale and they will try to work out a victory in their next clash.
Zambia is playing in its second consecutive Olympics after having debuted in the 2021 at the Tokyo 2020 Games.
