Councillor for Mikongo Ward in Mangochi North East, Adams Chinyangala, has died in a motorcycle accident

Malawi: Councillor for Mikongo Ward in Mangochi North East, Adams Chinyangala, has died in a motorcycle accident. The accident happened in the evening hours of Monday. He was riding on his motorbike when it collided with another motorcycle.

The accident happened near National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA) grain silos along Bakili Muluzi Highway in the district. The confirmation of his death came from the spokesperson for Mangochi District Council, Bishop Witmos.

He spoke to the media regarding the  unfortunate incident and shared that the  Councillor for Mikongo Ward in Mangochi North East died on Monday. The motorbike he was riding got involved in an accident near National Food Reserve Agency (NFRA).

The news of the death of the ward councillor was met with a wave of shock among the people of the community. The people who knew and respected him have extended their deepest condolences and expressed their solidarity with the grieving community.

It is not clear if the Police Force has intervened into the incident yet. Meanwhile, Community members claimed that they are disheartened by the number of lives lost to road traffic accidents.

Talking about the incident, the spokesperson for Mangochi District Council Witmos said Chinyangala collided with another motorcycle. The accident happened when the deceased victim, was riding from Mangochi Boma, going towards Namwera direction.

Meanwhile, several people, including fellow councilors, have expressed shock over the death of Chinyangala. The members of the community have come forward to extend their best wishes on the death of the wrd councillor.

Many of these individuals know the deceased victim personally and have come forward to share words of encouragement. Meanwhile, Mangochi Council chairperson Hassan Chikuta said the council has lost a person who had the passion to transform his area.

The deceased was working very hard for the betterment of his community. “During full council meetings, Chinyangala was always active, and he prioritised needs of his community members as well as of fellow councillors,” he said.

Chikuta further described Chinyangala as a quiet and calm person who always wanted peace to prevail.
