Nigeria: The Nigerian singer and rapper ‘Davido’ has promised the donation of 300 million Naira to orphanages through his David Adeleke Foundation (DAF), as a part of ongoing efforts to contribute to the welfare of the nation’s children.
He made the official announcement regarding the donation on Feb 21, 2024 on his official X and Facebook handle. For which he has also confirmed to reveal the further details later.
Now, the Afro-beat musician Davido has released an official detailed note related to the donation to be made to orphanages across Nigeria.
The note says, “We are pleased to announce that The David Adeleke Foundation (DAF) has committed an additional donation of 330 million Naira to orphanages across Nigeria as part of the ongoing efforts to contribute to the welfare of the nation’s children.”
In the note it is mentioned that the artist and his foundation have been consistently making donations over the past three years, “As done consistently over the three years, this decision has been made with careful consideration and a steadfast dedication to improving the lives of vulnerable children within the society.”
The disbursement process will commence within the coming weeks and will be overseen by the DAF Disbursement Committee which ensures the transparency and accountability in the allocation of funds.
As per the updated disbursement list, the total number of eligible children is 13,936 with 1,688 deemed ineligible. The set will be allocated and provide benefits to a total of 427 eligible orphanage homes. With a total amount of 300,000,000 to be disbursed and this translates to an average of 19,733 per eligible child.
Reportedly, the process of disbursing the funds to various orphanages will take time as the statistics of these orphanages will constantly change over time.
The disbursement process is anticipated to be complete within the upcoming two to three weeks. During the process, the team will work diligently to verify and proceed with the payments to the selected orphanages across the country.
A detailed list related to the donation inquiries is yet to be finalized. “We assure you that the updates on the progress of the disbursement will be provided in a timely manner,” says Davido in the official note.
