Botswana: Debswana Diamond Company is attending the US-Africa Business Summit to promote business and investment opportunities for Botswana. The Debswana representatives are accompanying the government of Botswana and Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) members to the event.

The Business Summit is being hosted in Dallas, Texas, USA with the business representatives from across the United States and Africa in attendance. The U.S.-Africa Business Summit is organised by the Corporate Council on Africa.

The event serves as a premier annual gathering aimed at bringing together African leaders, senior U.S. and African policymakers. Further, innovators, and representatives from both the public and private sectors  of the continent are also in attendance.

The initiative is considered to be one of the biggest platforms for discussing the developmental avenues in the district. Botswana is a leading global producer and Debswana Diamond Co is the largest contributor to the economy through diamond revenues.

Accordingly, the attendance of Debswana at the international business event has been hailed by the people. Through their presence, the company can secure potential collaborations and investments with international business partners.

The investments will be aligned with its current and future business strategies. Moreover, by attending the event, they can enhance their brand visibility and convey the natural diamond story to a global audience.

The Debswana Managing Director, Andrew Motsomi shared the details about the company’s future plans. He confirmed that the company is embarking on major capital projects. Therefore they are working on cultivating awareness of global technical, digital, financial, and other capabilities.

This is important to make sure that the company stakeholders can make informed decisions regarding future mine developments and local economic initiatives.

“Participation in the US-Africa Summit, including presentations during the ‘Invest in Botswana’ session and engagements at the Debswana exhibition booth, will provide vital insights for shaping our strategic initiatives,” Motsomi emphasised.

Furthermore, Motsomi  spoke about the importance of enhancing current efficiencies and profitability for the company. At the same time, they are establishing sustainable initiatives for post-diamond mining socio-economic development.

“Debswana will leverage its strengths to address emerging challenges, such as declining revenues, rising costs, evolving consumer trends, volatile markets, and the emergence of lab-grown diamonds,” he stated during his address at the summit.
