Zambia: The Zambia Defence Force has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Public Service Micro Finance Company (PSMFC) to access affordable agro products and services for national food security.
Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary Dennis Chisenda officiated on behalf of the Secretary to the Treasury at the function where the MOU was signed.
The Memorandum and partnership mean Service Personnel from Zambia Army, Zambia Air Force and Zambia National Service can now access agro services and products on the Agro Enhanced Asset plus loan scheme at a more flexible repayment rate as low as Nine percent (9%) at personnel and institutional level.
“We all know that Defence Force personnel do not benefit from government schemes such as farmer input support programmes, and as such, this move is our ‘salute’ for their dedication and relentless service to Mother Zambia,” remarked the Secretary to the Treasury.
Zambia Air Force Chief of Supply, Brig Gen Crispin Kunda, represented the Air Force Commander, Lt Gen Colin Barry and signed on behalf of ZAF.
Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary Norman Chipukupaku gave a vote of thanks, saying the MOU was going to be a game changer in the lives of service personnel and contribute to economic development. He asked dealers to supply quality products that will add value and productivity to the agro food chain.
PSMFC Chief Executive Officer Mubanga Mwiko thanked the Defence Force for coming on board, adding that his company was committed to serving the interest of the Defence Force and the nation at large.
