Cape Town: Deputy Mayor Eddie Andrews visited the Table View Beachfront, this week. There he inspected the upgradation work, which is gaining good momentum.
Reportedly, the project is expected to be completed by Nov 2026 with most of the civil related construction that causes the largest disruption anticipated to conclude in the first half of the next year.
Considering this, Eddie Andrews stated that it has been nearly four months since the construction work of the Table View Beachfront resumed. The Deputy Mayor expressed that he is glad to see the momentum that the project has gained.
The team has been working hard to get this project back on track. Despite of the harsh winter weather conditions the work is progressing well.
Andrews visited the construction site and observed a new wide walkaway along the beachfront and the new parking area under construction at Visagie Street, which is also a part of the project.

Table View Beachfront project aims to rehabilitate and revitalise as one of the prime tourist attractions of the City of Cape Town, along the Atlantic coastline. It will enhance the usability and facilities along the stretch.
Also, it will attract more visitors and investors which will ultimately benefit the local businesses in the area and tourism in whole.
Furthermore, the project will balance:
- natural coastal defence,
- recreational space,
- infrastructure improvements,
- beach access, and
- parking needs
There the stabilised dunes will serve as a natural barrier against the wave action. They will prevent sand from blowing inland, and the new walkway. They also reconfigured parking bays to improve beach access while maintaining the parking availability.

New parking areas are being built at Visagie Street and Bokkombaai which will offer elevated views of the beach and Table Mountain and will allow visitors to enjoy the scenery from their vehicles.
The Coastal Management Branch of the City of Cape Town is regularly monitoring and managing the dunes along the coastline carefully, to ensure that they remain effectively stabilised.
It is a result of ongoing efforts to maintain wind nets and vegetation until it is in a balanced state. The re-profiled dunes offer multiple environmental benefits that are visible in sand accumulation on nearby infrastructure, including the parking areas, walkways, roadways and buildings along the Table View beachfront.
