The Botswana Swimming Sport Association has entered into a 3-year partnership with Diamond Trading Center

Botswana: The Botswana Swimming Sport Association has entered into a 3-year partnership with Diamond Trading Center. The partnership was made official on Thursday, during a brief yet significant ceremony.

The University of Botswana served as the venue for the event that aimed to amplifying the BSSA’s commitment in partnership with the Diamond Trading Company. The aim of the collaboration is to ensure that the the two organizations can continue to develop the swimmers of Botswana

The organization has appreciated the BSSA swimmers for their unwavering determination, resilience and discipline. The authorities believe that the athletes have represented the Swimming Sport Association and Botswana well.

The President of Botswana Swimming Sport Association, Kgaotsang Mathews was happy to see the  partnership becoming official. She expressed that this sponsorship aims to support 2 groups of the BSSA swimmers.

These groups are: The development squad of 20 swimmers (age 12-15) and the senior squad (age 16+).

The aim of the collaboration is to train the atheletes to qualify for the 2028 Olympics. She further highlights that the funds will be invested towards improving their capabilities.

The steps that were taken in this regard would include, enrolling the atheletes into the Pretoria High Performing Center during August. The authorities will provide swimming and conditioning support.

The other initiatives include, professional coaching team together with psychological and physiological services.

Managing Director of Diamond Trading Company Botswana, Sedireng Serumula also reflected on the partnership. He noted that one of the pivotal aspects of this partnership is the shared believe in the transformative power of sport.

The focus of the two organizations is to promote the youth extension through athletics. Notably, Serumula preached on the organization’s advocacy towards developing sustainable practices that betters the present without compromising the future.

In his closing remarks, the Chairperson of Botswana National Sport Commission Board Mr Marumo Morule encouraged parents, coaches, teachers and the rest of the community to proactively support swimmers  as they are the future champions who will put Botswana and Africa on the global map. Morule appreciated DTC Botswana for their sponsorship and called on other private companies to take a leading hand to sponsor sports.
