Botswana: Botswana Police Commissioner Dinah Marathe took the opportunity to meet the families of Mmamatlakala tragedy victims. The tragedy happened when a bus carrying easter pilgrims veered off the road, killing 45 individuals.

The incident happened on March 28, with several families losing their loved ones in the tragic accident. The authorities of Botswana have taken it upon themselves to support the grieving families in their time of need

The Commissioner of Police addressed the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in Mmamatlakala tragedy. She began her address by thanking St. Engenas Pastors for their cooperation from the moment the tragedy struck.

Commissioner Marathe spoke to the audience and informed them about the administration’s steps. At the same time, she urged the people to be patient as they await pending processes.

The authorities are working hard to expedite the repatriation of the bodies so that the loved ones can get their final rites done among the family. The people of the community are  appreciative of the significant gestures taken up by the government of Botswana

The Minister for State President, Kabo Morwaeng also addressed the attendants after Commissioner Dinah Marathe. He assured the bereaved families that they were not alone in this difficult time. He pledged that the government will ensure that the families get all the support and assistance

Accordingly, he urged them to consult the office of the District Commissioner should they encounter any challenges.

Morwaeng concluded his address by asking the families to be patient and also desist from trusting unreliable media sources. He claimed that they are known to spread untrue statements that might end up confusing them.

The family members were also given the opportunity to express their views and also asked questions to clarify some issues. They indicated that as much as they are in inexpressible pain and emotions, they appreciate the visit and the updates given to them.

They also expressed their gratitude to the government for supporting them in this difficult time. The families also talked to the delegation about some of their challenges.

The authorities paid attention to the suggestions they received on how best some of the issues can be addressed going forward.
