Dominica: Minister of Housing and the Parliamentary Representative of Roseau Central of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Melissa Skerrit, on Monday, February 6, 2023, shared the news on her social media account in which she wrote, “I am excited to collaborate on this initiative with the Ministry of Public Works to promote the advancement of education in sectors of today’s world that are paramount to our progress as a people as well as a nation.”
The web designing course classes will be held every week, Monday and Wednesday, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, and it is scheduled to be hosted under the Caribbean Digital Transformation Project.
According to Melissa Skerrit, who was referencing David Warlick, “it is essential to have technology accessible to all students and teachers in every classroom. This is because technology is equivalent to the pen and paper of our era, and it is through technology that we can experience much of the world.”
Furthermore, she also shared the course details that what they will cover in the following:
1. Introduction to Web Development
2. JavaScript Fundamentals
3. HTML and CSS Basics
4. Introduction to Web Application Frameworks
5. Best Practices in Web Development
6. Deploying and Maintaining Web Applicationd
Enrollment for the course is now available and can be completed at the office of the Roseau Central Constituency.
The Caribbean Digital Transformation Project is enthusiastic about introducing numerous programs aimed at enhancing the technical skills of young people in Dominica and encouraging their involvement in online tools. As part of this effort, they have recently introduced a new initiative called the Digital Literacy Training course.
In partnership with the Youth Development Division, the Caribbean Digital Transformation Project and the Ministry of Public Works, Public Utilities, and the Digital Economy have launched the Intermediate Level Digital Literacy Training program. The program will take place on Wednesdays and Mondays from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm and will start on March 1, 2023.
