Dominica: The representatives from DOWASCO, along with the Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF), and the Consultant Representative from CEAC Solutions Company Ltd had a meeting with the Parliamentary Representatives of Dominica, the Paix-Bouche Village Council and other key community members as part of ongoing community engagement and project monitoring efforts.
The meeting was held on Thursday, August 07, 2025 to discuss the progress of the Paix-Bouche Water Enhancement Project.
Reportedly, it is one of the major infrastructure projects valued at EC$2.1 million (inclusive of VAT) under the BNTF-10 initiative, which is designed to significantly improve water supply reliability and efficiency for Paix-Bouche and neighboring communities, consisting of Dos D’Ane, Borne, and Thibaud.
The project aims to progress well and remain on schedule for completion by the end of August 2025. Further, it will quadruple the water storage capacity for the area and will greatly reduce the service interruptions once finalized. Especially during heavy rainfall or maintenance periods.
It will also facilitate future housing development in the Moore Park area by increasing water access and reliability.
The objective of the project includes various key components, such as:
- Under this project construction of a new 60,000-gallon water storage tank was started in Moore Park, which is now fully complete.
- Construction of a new intake on the Grand Riviere was also started which is nearing completion and is part of this project.
- Access road to the intake is also a part of this project, which is almost finished.
- Also, installation of new high-capacity pumps is expected to take place shortly.
- The laying of 1,700 feet of new pipelines to improve water distribution across higher elevations in the community is also a part of this project, which is now completed.
Notably, DOWASCO, BNTF and CEAC expressed their appreciation to residents and stakeholders for their continued patience and support during the construction phase and reaffirmed their commitment to deliver a high-quality water system that meets the needs of the Paix-Bouche community and surrounding areas.
