Dominica will commence with Voter confirmation on October 15, 2025. Through confirmation, the electors whose names were on the voters list as of May 2025 are included in the new voters list.
Chief Elections Officer – Athea Joseph said that the Voter Confirmation will be undertaken in every confirmation center, in every constituency, in Dominica. Some of the constituencies will have more than one confirmation center. Most importantly the confirmation will not take place overseas.
The applicants can only be confirmed in their respective constituency, in which they are registered to vote. They must be accompanied by an elector registered to vote in the same polling district to serve as a witness.
Joseph confirmed that if a person is a citizen of Dominica, and is voting, then he must bring one of the following:
- His or Her’s valid Dominica Passport, or
- His or Her’s valid Dominica’s Driver’s License, or
- His or Her’s valid Dominica Social Security Card
Notably, Copies of required documents are also needed to be brought with the original documents.
Chief Elections Officer also stated that if the applicant only has a copy of the required document, then a certified copy must be submitted, which is certified by a Justice of Peace.
Furthermore, in cases where the applicants are facing difficulty in writing, then they should be assisted by the enrolment officer.
Considering this, Chairman of the Electoral Commission – Dunken Stowe said that the reforms will make the electoral process more transparent and inclusive.
Stowe stated that for many years, electoral reform and modernisation have been central to national dialogue in Dominica. It is a process that marked reflection, consultation and commitment, as all are driven by a shared goal to strengthen democracy or ensure that every vote truly counts.
He further reformed this by representing a renewal of trust between the people and the institutions that safeguard their voice.
