Dominica to welcome TRON – a global blockchain platform

Roseau, Dominica- October 7. 2022: The Government of Dominica has entered into an agreement with TRON following the passage of Virtual Asset Business legislation in May 2022. 

This is a historic step for Dominica in its drive to enhance economic growth by embracing digital innovation and appointing TRON Protocol as its designated national blockchain infrastructure. 

TRON Protocol is one of the leading global blockchain platforms, known for its efficient and cost-effective crypto settlement system. 

TRON has obtained the government’s endorsement to issue Dominica Coin (“DMC”), a blockchain-based fan token, to help promote Dominica’s global fanfare for its natural heritage and tourism attractions. “Dominica is committed to building a more inclusive and diversified economy with the help of new technologies. 

The open and cost-effective nature of the TRON blockchain infrastructure will play a vital role in better integrating Small Island Developing States like Dominica into the global economy in the future,” said Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.

What TRON actually is?

TRON is actually a blockchain-based decentralized digital platform, and it carries its own cryptocurrency, known as Tronix or TRX. Founded in 2017 by a Singapore non-profit organization, the Tron Foundation, it only aims to host a global entertainment system for the cost-effective sharing of digital content.

As per 2021 data of TRON, it has more than 50 million accounts, and its TRX ranks 31st among cryptocurrencies in market capitalization.

TRON creates new competition for Netflix, Amazon and also for the whole industry, and it carries a different slogan, “Decentralize the Web”, and its aim is to remove the corporate middleman from the process of consuming media.

Beyond the current cryptocurrency boom, surely its future success depends at least in part on the quality of the programming it brings to its users.
