Malawi: Director of Teacher Education and Development (DTED) in the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr Zizwa Msukuma, has asked the Dowa Education Managers to take the Batch 3 refresher training seriously. He has announced that this training programme can help in enhancing the quality of education in the country.
The director of teacher education and development was attending the opening of a two-day School Leadership Program training (SLP). At this training programme, held at Linde Hotel in Dowa District, he made the call for the teachers to strive to be better.
Dr Msukuma stated that the training aims to help in strengthening the school leadership in public primary schools. The goals of the training initiative means improving teaching quality, enhancing student support, and boosting overall learner performance.
The Ministry of Education stakeholder has also added that the Leadership Programme is meant for the head teachers, deputy head teachers, and section heads. The programme is extremely important for the development of the education sector of the country.
The organization has shared that it seeks to build leadership capacity, improve school management, increase accountability, and support teacher development. Ultimately, all these steps will enhance learner outcomes.
He encouraged participants to share the knowledge that they gain during the training with teachers in their respective institutions. This will help to ensure that the training has a broader and lasting impact.
Dorothy Mzungu who serves as the Acting Chief Education Officer for Dowa District, expressed her satisfaction with the training. She said that it would build capacity among Dowa’s education managers and contribute to improving education standards across the district.
She also appreciated the stakeholders who have made contributions to help the facilitators of the training for their efforts. She added that such support would have a positive impact on the overall performance of the education sector in the district.
