Nigeria: The governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki joined the people of Fugar community to celebrate their 5th Annual Cultural Festival. The community resides in the Etsako Central Local Government area of Edo State. The festival was hosted on Wednesday, December 27.

Governor Obaseki was extremely happy to participate in cultural event the community. He extended his gratitude to the members of the Fugar Community and congratulated the indigenes for the success of the festival.
The Governor noted that the festival serves as a means of portraying the cultural heritage of the people to the global community. The festival also works towards giving meaning to the people of Fugar.
Obaseki said: “You have been doing this for 5 years now. I believe this cultural festival will last for a very long time. I want to encourage you that every year, you must make sure that you celebrate this festival, because this festival is what gives meaning to you as Fugar people.
“Without this festival, nobody will know about Fugar, its tradition, beautiful culture, food, dress, language, and everything that has to do with Fugar. For us as government, any idea you come with, we are ready to support, so that Fugar can grow and be great again.”
“I am glad that this year, you have taken time to also look at the economy. Now that things are difficult in Nigeria, it is good for you to look inwards and say, what can we do for ourselves; how can we make life better for our people by looking at ourselves and our culture?” Obaseki added.
The Governor further donated the sum of N5 million in support of the festival. “On behalf of the government and the ministry of culture, I will donate the sum of 5 million naira to support this festival”, Obaseki pledged.
The people of the community have appreciated the governor for joining them in the annual festival.
