As per reports, Kasonde accepted that he had not notified the concerned authorities before hosting the conference and apologised for his act. Police officials initially warned the President of the Economic Freedom Fighters and allowed them to leave.

A resident displayed their aggression on social media regarding the police force’s demand to be notified about the press conference. He said, “We are truly and officially a banana Republic…notification to police for a press conference? My goodness! UPND should never mention the nonsense of the rule of law again in this country….period!”

Another social media expressed his disappointment with the officials of the Zambia Police Force. “Yalikaba…..and those praise singers who remain silent on such issues yet posting PF videos of violent cadres …you are hypocrites and very spineless. What was wrong then is wrong now, and it should be condemned in the strongest terms, said another user.”

However, as per reports, soon after they left, Kasonde was blocked by people who apprehended them and brought them back to Riverside police station, where they were released again since there was no report of any alleged matter.

Further, the police force of Zambia has also shared information regarding the theft of Kasonde’s Mwenda’s Laptop and the car keys. According to the officials, the Laptop was found in the vehicle he was using, and the Car keys were brought by a Taxi driver to Riverside and handed over at the station.
