Elite African Athletes to join ‘Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K’ this Sunday

Cape Town: The 9th edition of the ‘Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K’ is all set to held on Sunday, May 12, 2024 from the Milnerton. The race will see a loaded field with elite African Athletes.

As per the sources, some of Africa’s elite road running athletes are ready to take part in the 9th edition of the Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K – race.

The Mother City will be hosting an elite field of runners that will include Kenya’s Vincent Langat, the South African 10km record holder – Precious Mashele, South African cross-country champion – Kabelo Mulaudzi, three-time Olympian – Stephen Mokoka and two-time Olympian – Elroy Gelant.

Notably, Diana Chepkorir from Kenya, five-time national champion – Irvette van Zyl, Lesotho Olympain – Neheng Khatala and the long-distance runner – Cacisile Sosibo will consider a loaded elite women’s field on Sunday run.

The elite runners will be amongst the 12,000 runners who will take on the 10km route from Milnerton to the CBD.

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security – Alderman JP Smith said that it is wonderful to welcome some of the best African runners to the Mother City for a race that has become one of the country’s most loved road running events.

According to Alderman Smith, Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K event forms a part of the broader goals to transform Cape Town into one of the world’s preferred runner’s destinations.

Support by City of Cape Town for the event over the last 10 years and sponsorship of other running events hosted in Cape Town aims not only on providing support to the sport but also ensures that all those who love running, whether for professional or recreation purposes, must have platforms to express themselves in the Mother City.

“We wish all the athletes a smooth race as they strive to achieve their personal best and encourage them to enjoy all the views, as the Mother City has offered,” said JP Smith.
